BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after an incident that occurred on Monday, April 22, at approximately 2:13 a.m.
Police said officers from the North Precinct were dispatched to 4213 Fairmont Way on a report of shots fired into a residence. Upon arrival, officers were alerted that a person was struck by gunfire. Officers discovered the victim inside the residence, unresponsive, lying on a sofa suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased as a result of his injuries.
Police identified the victim as William Morris, 58, of Birmingham.
No suspect is in custody in this investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, according to police.
