Wade McIntosh Taylor, 58, of Grayson Valley, died Saturday in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 11 near St. Vincent’s East, and friends have planned a fundraising event to help the family cover funeral costs.
Friends Robby Northcut and Luke McKleroy, along with many of Taylor’s “biker brothers,” have organized a fundraiser event called “Life Party for Wade Taylor” to be held at the Thunder Inn on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. The event will have free admission, but there will be a raffle and door prizes to help raise funds for Taylor’s family.
The motorcycle enthusiast was a popular figure among local bikers and spent the last 24 years in the Grayson Valley area.
“He was a kind and gentle spirit,” sister May Argo said. “He could make the whole world laugh with his jokes.”
Taylor was the father of former newspaper reporter Crystal McGough, who covered Clay and Pinson for The Trussville Tribune.
“He was a great man and an even better father,” Crystal said. “He and I could stay up all night just talking. I know he loved Jesus with all his heart and, even now, would want his life to be a testimony for Jesus. He raised his children to know and love the Lord and he knew his Bible better than anyone I have ever known. Though my heart is broken, I know he is happy now because he gets to see his Lord and Savior face to face.”
