TUSCALOOSA — DCH Health System is unable to accept new patients in Tuscaloosa, Northport or Fayette, after a ransomware attack. Patients in critical condition or who require immediate treatment will be treated.
According to the DCH website, the attack is linked to a criminal act.
“A criminal is limiting our ability to use our computer system in exchange for an as-yet unknown payment,” DCH said in a statement.
The hospital has implemented emergency procedures and is not planning to transfer current patients. Ambulance services have been advised to take patients to other hospitals, if possible.
If you have an appointment at a DCH facility, you are asked to call ahead.
