BIRMINGHAM — A teenager has been charged in the shooting of a pregnant woman that resulted in the death of her unborn child, according to Carol Robinson. Avery Turner, 19, turned himself in but details on the motive for the shooting have not been released.

On April 6, officers from the Birmingham Police Department responded to a report of a female shot. It was said at first that she had been shot in the leg but it was later clarified that she was shot in the abdomen. The unborn baby she was carrying was killed as a result of the injury.
According to the report, warrants were issued for Turner’s arrest on Monday but he turned himself in yesterday. He is being held on an attempted murder charge of $100,000 but without bond on the capital murder charge.
