Hewitt-Trussville went back and forth in its five games in the Florida/Alabama Baseball Challenge in Tallahassee, Fla., last week.
The No. 7 Huskies lost, won, lost, won and then ended the tournament with a loss. Hewitt-Trussville fell 11-1 to Chiles (Fla.) in its first game of the tournament. The Huskies scored their lone run in the fourth inning. Chiles scored 10 runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings.
Hewitt-Trussville defeated Maclay (Fla.) 6-0 behind a strong outing from senior Matt Gatewood. Junior Riley Stokes was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Senior Dakota Harwell had an RBI double, senior Connor Cox had a two-run double and sophomore Carter Pharis had a sacrifice fly in the win.

Hewitt-Trussville fell 6-5 to Wakulla in its third game of the challenge. Senior Will Pharis had a two-run double in the loss. Hewitt-Trussville was tied at 5 entering the bottom of the seventh, but Wakulla won on a walk-off.
Senior pitcher Bill Brown held Lincoln (Fla.) to two hits over 6 2/3 innings in a 2-0 win. He struck out seven batters. Senior Brent Robson was 2-for-2 with two doubles in the win.
The Huskies lost 4-2 to North Florida Christian in their final tournament game. Robson had an RBI. Senior pitcher Kane Morrow threw five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out six batters.
Hewitt-Trussville hosts Vestavia Hills on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and travels to Vestavia Hills Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. game. The Huskies will play Pleasant Grove and Pinson Valley at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, Saturday at Pinson Valley
