The New York Times is reporting that a series of explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon has left runners and spectators injured and bloodied.
The Boston Marathon Facebook page posted, “There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today’s Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened.”
The Times reports that Boston Police have confirmed that they are looking into the explosions, but had no further comment.
Meanwhile, The Boston Globe tweeted that President Barack Obama has pledged resources to assist in the investigation. According to The Globe, at least 12 have been injured.
According to The Times, an explosion first occurred on the northern side of Boylston Street
. A few seconds later, a second explosion occurred. Paramedics and rescue personnel are on the scene treating the injured in a medical tent.
