Clay-Chalkville has ascended two spots in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings.
Clay-Chalkville, No. 8 last week, is now No. 6.
The Cougars (7-1, 5-1 Class 6A, Region 7) are behind Hoover, Bob Jones, Vestavia Hills, Auburn and Opelika. Hoover recorded all 30 first-place votes. Clay-Chalkville has a chance this week to lock up the region championshipwith a win against Lee-Huntsville.

The rest of the top 10 includes Spain Park, McGill-Toolen, Smiths Station and Shades Valley.
Neither Hewitt-Trussville (3-5, 3-3 Class 6A, Region 6) nor Pinson Valley (5-3, 4-2 Class 5A, Region 6) received votes for top 10 consideration. The Huskies travel to Lawson Field on Thursday to take on Huffman and Pinson Valley hosts Moody in this week’s Friday Feature game.
