JEFFERSON COUNTY –Just before 9 a.m. Saturday deputies received a call from a citizen who was witnessing their neighbor’s home being burglarized.
The caller stated that he could see a male suspect coming out of their neighbor’s back door carrying a television into a wooded area behind the house. The caller stayed on the line with dispatchers and gave a detailed account of what they were seeing. This included a description of the suspect and the fact that the suspect had taken off the hoodie he had been wearing.
When deputies arrived at the 1500 block of Bobolink Lane in Center Point to investigate the burglary in progress, the caller directed the responding deputies directly to the suspect.
Upon checking the neighbor’s home it was discovered that the suspect had forced his way inside and stolen the television. The stolen property was returned to the homeowner.
The suspect, 23-year-old Cordlin Garrett, of Center Point was arrested and charged with Burglary third degree and theft of property second degree. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he posted $7,500 bond and was released.
