GADSDEN — Gadsden Police went to Martin Avenue on April 8 on a burglary call at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The burglary took place when the resident wasn’t hope, and investigations concluded the suspect could be identified through evidence recovered at the scene.
At 1 p.m. on April 8, the suspect returned to the victim’s residence while the victim was home. The homeowner was shot multiple times by the suspect, and the victim was flown to a Birmingham area hospital for treatment. At this time the homeowner is expected to recover from his injuries.
The suspect, identified as Erick Deshawn Ransom, 18 of Gadsden, was located shortly after the incident. He has been charged with attempted murder and is being held at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
According to Sgt. John Hallman, additional charges are expected in this case.
