TRUSSVILLE, Ala. –Trussville’s downtown redevelopment is well underway with major infrastructure improvements taking place. The Trussville Redevelopment Authority’s plan to begin work on new sidewalks, landscaping and public parking for Quadrant One (The Straw Hat/Three Earred Rabbit block) is closing in on a start date.
A new contractor is in place for ALDOT to complete the work on the long overdue Civitan Park enhancements, with the Veteran’s Memorial already complete and open to the public.
As redevelopment draws closer to becoming a reality, private developers are visiting the area on a regular basis in search of investment opportunities and new businesses are flocking into the downtown area to stake their claim.

Is there a plan for road expansion to cover all of the traffic this will bring in?
Deborah Killian Kilgo
I think they should be more concerned with traffic problems then developing new businesses at this point.

I agree. Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to progress. I would like the leaders to look at the bigger picture. You build it, they will come. So figure out how to get them there.

I’ve heard talk of this revitalization of Downtown Trussville since 2006….glad to hear it may finally be coming to fruition beginning in 2016.

Trussville wants to bring new businesses, but do not consider the traffic issues. The current roads cannot take anymore traffic. I work in Trussville and I have almost been slammed into twice this week just trying to get onto Hwy 11. Fix the traffic issue first Trussville!

Is that Nelson Corner the article is referring to (Three Earred Rabbit, et al)?

Isn’t this the third contractor to renovate the Civitan greens? As if they needed renovation before, cause we all need to be able to drive cars on sidewalks winding through spaces previously used. A huge waste of tax dollars by ALDOT. how about focusing on repaint some of our much needed roads. At this pace the new elementary schools will be up and running before we get access to this property again.

Downtown Trussville is a difficult place to park and/or walk. I think businesses will do better if it becomes less of a hassle to get from one business to the next.

And by revitalizing pushing over all the old decaying businesses from sonic to Edwards furniture that aren’t fit for health department approval
