TRUSSVILLE — Police in Trussville have charged a Birmingham man with stealing wiring from the highway lights on Interstate 59.
According to Trussville Police Lieutenant Phil Dillon, Raymond Edward Liberty, 61, of Birmingham was arrested and charged with first degree theft of property, first degree criminal mischief, first degree criminal tampering, and possession of burglar’s tools.
His bond was set at $40,000.00.
“Liberty is accused of cutting and stealing the electrical wires that are attached to the light poles on the section of I-59 that runs through the city limits of Trussville,” Dillon said. “While on patrol one of our officers spotted the suspect on the side of the interstate, which lead to his arrest.”
