SHELBY COUNTY — According to the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, three Birmingham men were arrested during an undercover drug operation, which led to the discovery of a 9-month-old child in their vehicle.
“On Tuesday, narcotics investigators with SCDETF conducted undercover narcotics operations at the Shelby Motor Lodge in Alabaster, which led to the arrest of three males from the Birmingham area,” according to a statement released by the department. “During the arrests, it was discovered that the three males drove from Birmingham to Alabaster with a nine-month-old child in the vehicle to reportedly sell crack cocaine to undercover narcotics investigators.”
Narcotics investigators contacted Shelby County DHR, who responded to the scene and placed the child in the care of the mother. The child’s mother was not present nor was she considered to be a subject of the narcotics investigation.
