MOUNTAIN BROOK — Hewitt-Trussville Outdoor Track had a productive weekend at Mountain Brook High School as they competed in the 7A Sectional. The HT Boys finished 3rd as a team, and the HT Girls finished 4th as a team. Qualified athletes will now compete for HT at the AHSAA State Championships in Gulf Shores next weekend. The Huskies will send 15 Girls and 13 Boys to the State Meet.
Notes from the AHSAA Sectional:
*Maci Mills placed 3rd in the Girls 1600. She had a PR and qualified for state
*Aaron Himes qualified for state in the Boys 1600
*Erica Myrick won the gold in discuss and qualified for state
*Kelsey Martin placed 3rd in Girls Triple Jump and qualified for state
*Julian Collins won gold in Boys Long Jump and qualified for state
*Stone Shelnutt placed 3rd in Boys Long Jump to qualify for state
*Stone Shelnutt placed 4th in Boys 400 Meters and qualified for state
*Boys 4×800 Meter team qualified for state (Sam Ronsisvalle, Christian Nichols, Alex Jones, and Aaron Himes)
*Aaron Himes qualified for state in the 3200 meter
*Julian Collins won gold in the Boys Triple Jump to qualify for state
*Kelsey Martin placed 2nd in Girls High Jump to qualify for state
*Girls 4×100 team qualified for state (Bri Beckham, Tashayla Steele, Alli Carruth, Milan Brown)
*Jacob Copham qualified for state in Discuss
*Stone Shelnutt and Caleb Long qualified for state in the 110 hurdles)
*Milan Brown qualified for state in the 100-meter dash
*Julian Collins qualified for state in the 100-meter dash
*Stone Shelnutt qualified for state in the 300-meter hurdles
*Lea Townsend won gold in the Shot Put to qualify for state
*Kelsey Martin qualified in the 200-meter dash
*Maci Mills qualified in the 800 meter
*Caleb Long set a school record in the Javelin. He won gold at sectionals and qualified for state
*Christian Nichols qualified in the 800 Meter Run
