Civil Air Patrol cadets in Springville rise in rank
SPRINGVILLE — Cadets with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Springville AL-126 are training this summer and rising in the ranks.
A group of new cadets recently completed a weekend-long training event at the Springville Armory June 7 – 9, 2019. Participants learned about ceremonies and proper courtesies from more experienced cadets.
Some cadets from Springville also participated in AL/MS Encampment program at Ft. McClellan the week of June 17. A graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 22, for those participants.

The purpose of ongoing training is to allow kids ages 12 – 18 to build strong leadership skills and to prepare them for a career in the military. Graduates of CAP are eligible for higher pay when they enter any branch of the military than those who do not rise in the ranks in CAP. They also have the opportunity to build camaraderie with other cadets.
CAP is similar to the Army’s ROTC program. CAP members in Springville are dedicated to community service and have participated in events such as Wreaths Across America, Springville CityFest, the Mid-Alabama Corvette Convention and the Springville Cemetery Cleanup.
