BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department once again pleaded to the public for information in the case of kidnapped 3-year-old, Kamille McKinney.
Police Chief Patrick Smith asked for the person who has McKinney to drop her off at a police or fire station to be reunited with her family.
“I wanted to reach out to just one individual,” said Smith. “If you know where Kamille is; if you have her and you’re not sure what to do, I just want to talk to you, for one second. I want to give you safe passage.”
A reward being offered for information leading to the safe return of McKinney has reached $20,000. Anyone can make a donation to the cause by calling (205) 224-5003.
If you have information, the number to call is (205) 254-7777.
Governor Kay Ivey’s office is also offering a separate $5,000 reward.
Smith said investigators believe it is possible McKinney is being moved around to different locations.
Police are asking the public to not share inaccurate information on social media.
“Don’t fall into the trap,” said Smith. “We are here conducting a real investigation and this is a very sensitive investigation. It’s one that’s pulled on the heartstrings of the community and the nation.”
Police conducted a search Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in Birmingham. But the search, conducted less than 10 miles (16 kilometers) from where Kamille McKinney was last seen, didn’t turn up signs of the girl even though officers looked through every apartment and car in the area, said Sgt. Johnny Williams, a police spokesman.
