BIRMINGHAM — Two people were found dead following a shooting in a Brook Highland apartment late Sunday night in northern Shelby County.
The discovery of the bodies occurred hours after Shelby County sheriff’s deputies were called to the complex regarding a report of a disturbance made by a third party.
“Deputies responded to the area to investigate the situation and developed information indicating that at least one person was possibly armed with a gun inside the residence, and deputies were unable to make contact with the person,” read a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release. “The area near the residence was secured, and members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office multi-jurisdictional Tactical Response Unit and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded to assist. When deputies entered the residence, they discovered two people deceased.”
The bodies were discovered around 10 p.m. The altercation was confined to that apartment.
No one else is believed to be involved, but the investigation in ongoing.
