BIRMINGHAM — A roof collapse during a house fire in Norwood late Tuesday night injured three Birmingham firefighters who were on the scene battling the blaze.
The fire burned through a house in the 3800 block of Norwood Boulevard around 8 p.m. As the firefighters attempted to get into the house, the roof collapsed down upon them. According to AL.com, “one firefighter was taken away on a stretcher” and the other “limped to an ambulance.”
The three firefighters were taken to UAB Hospital. Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo said that, as of 10:42 p.m., all three firefighters were in stable condition, but he does not yet know the extent of their injuries.
According to media reports, the house was under renovation and nobody is presently living there. The fire has yet to be extinguished.
