BIRMINGHAM — A pair of newlyweds at UAB will soon walk down another aisle together. Shakima Knox and Steven D. Wilson will graduate with master’s degrees in communication management, according to a report from UAB.
The two met at UAB while performing in the UAB Gospel Choir together. They were married on UAB’s Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 19.
On Friday, Dec. 13, the pair will graduate from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Communication Studies.
Knox, who is from Newbern, Alabama, is also known for excelling as an NCAA champion with the UAB Women’s Track and Field. Wilson, of Picayune, Mississippi, found great success with his vocal talent, winning UAB talent competitions and landing leads on several choir performances.
Knox and Wilson are members of the Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement. Wilson will graduate with honors from Phi Kappa Psi Honor Society and he works in UAB Student Affairs in the Student Counseling Services Administration and Outreach teams.
The couple plans to go on their honeymoon to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, after graduation.
