CLAY — The city of Clay has placed barriers at the entrance of Cosby Lake.
All city parks, including Cosby Lake, were closed on Monday, March 16, after an order by Jefferson County Health Officer Dr. Mark Wilson.
Despite the closure, people continued to gather at the lake and the city took action. All pavilions and picnic areas have also been taped off. Mayor Charles Webster said anyone at the lake, or other public facilities that are closed, will be trespassing.
Other closed facilities include the Clay Tennis Center and Clay Youth Fields.
Although outdoor activities are encouraged, public parks across the nation have been closed to stop the spread of coronavirus. Authorities said people have been hesitant in public places to adhere to orders to stay 6 feet from one another.
