TRUSSVILLE — A new, sweet spot is coming soon to downtown Trussville. Cookie Dough Magic serves safe-to-eat cookie dough and the owners are getting ready to open up shop and serve people in the Entertainment District.
Owners Chris and Melissa Bell already have a location in Birmingham and they just announced a new location is coming soon to Huntsville. Now, they’re announcing the Trussville location is in the works. Chris Bell said he hopes to open in Trussville in late summer or early fall 2020. It will be in the same building as Ferus Artisan Ales, on Beech Street.
As for the atmosphere, the design of the 1400 sq. ft. space will be based on the existing location in Birmingham.
“We didn’t want this concept of the shop to ever look like your traditional, bright-light ice cream dessert shop,” said Chris Bell. “We wanted to create an experience.”
The shop will have a family-friendly vibe during the day and at night, things darken a little for the mature crowd.
“It’s more of a date-night, older adult sort of thing. At night, the music is bumping,” explained Bell. “Of course, kids can come in, too, but that’s the kind of experience we wanted to create.”
Bell believes the experience will complement the brewery next door. Above all, he hopes this new concept will delight palates and put smiles on faces.
“We want them to feel like they’ve never had anything like that before,” said Bell. “The vibe and experience are so important to us, but our product and our customer service are also very important.”
Bell said his business prides itself on high-quality products with real ingredients. He says Cookie Dough Magic’s customer service is also top-notch.
The product itself is safe to eat because the flour undergoes a special heat treatment to kill bacteria. Although you’ve always been told not to eat cookie dough, this concept is a game-changer.
“It’s really good,” Bell said. “It’s not thick and gritty like normal cookie dough. It’s real smooth.”
The Bell’s developed all of their 13 flavors on their own, using real ingredients. The cookie dough is served chilled, in a cone, cup or in a milkshake.
Magic Chocolate Chip, Salty Sweet, Birthday Cake Batter and Magic Unicorn are some of the options served at Cookie Dough Magic. There are also vegan and gluten-free options.
