TRUSSVILLE — Trussville City Schools will soon have a new central office and Board of Education building, off Gadsden Highway. The school system released a rendering of the front of the proposed building.
The two-story, approximately 20,000 square feet facility will include office space (administration, athletics, finance, facilities, etc.), a board room, training rooms, a family resource center and a technology department, according to Ryan Vernon, an architect for Lathan Associates Architechs, PC.
The exterior of the building will include a combination of brick, precast concrete, aluminum storefront windows/doors, and a metal roof.
The building is expected to be completed one year after the bid for construction is awarded, according to Vernon.
“The project is out to bid currently but currently bids are due in early July,” Vernon said.
The location of the new central office will be on the former Hamilton property on Highway 11, across from Winn Dixie. The building will back up to a walking trail and park area that will serve as a buffer to homes on Dew Drive. The city of Trussville approved a land swap with the school system. The swap will mean the central office will have more room for parking.
Lathan Associates was also the architect for the renovations and addition at Paine Elementary School. Other projects in the company’s portfolio include the Alabama Association of School Boards Headquarters, Helena High School, Helena Middle School, Helena Intermediate School and St. Clair County High School.
