CLAY — Raindrop Car Wash is adding a new location in Clay. The car wash will go in the old Fred’s building off Deerfoot Parkway. The business is also in the process of building a location in Trussville.
Owner Tara Buchanan said the automated car wash will consist of a drive-thru express tunnel. The entrance to the tunnel will be in the front of the building, where the doors are. Cars will travel to the back of the building and come out to the left side where there will be indoor vacuums. Outdoor vacuums will also be available. It will be similar to the Raindrop Car Wash in Grayson Valley.
There will be a full staff during operation hours.
The Clay location will also have a training center that will be used for all Raindrop Car Wash locations and for other car wash companies and vendors across the country.
Buchanan said she is happy to repurpose an empty space just as she did for the Grayson Valley location, which used to be the BB&T Bank.
“I hate driving through an area and seeing something like the BB&T building just sitting there and not being used,” Buchanan said. “So, anytime we can find an existing location and add something to a community, we’re excited to do that.”
As for the Trussville location, Buchanan said construction on the building should start soon. She said crews are currently digging the trenches for the water pit under the car wash.
Everyone with a monthly membership to Raindrop Car Wash can use any of the locations. The Trussville and Clay locations will be the seventh and eight Raindrop Car Wash locations in the state. The new locations are expected to be open around the beginning of 2021.
