Janis Virginia Parker went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020.
Janis was born in Columbus Georgia to Guy and Athalee Davidson on Nov. 12, 1932. As the daughter of a Baptist minister and a gifted musician, Janis served as both organist and pianist of her father’s church.
She married Frank Parker on April 12, 1952 and the two were inseparable for 68 years. She faithfully served her church and hundreds of children as a second grade Sunday School teacher for many years. Janis loved spending time with her sisters and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked side by side with Frank in their business for over 23 years.
Janis and Frank shared a love of traveling and traveled all over the world together.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Fincher. She is survived by her husband, Frank, her sister Cathy Stewart (Bill), her children, Vicki Winstead (Mark), Kim Huffstutler (Carl), Russ Parker, her grandchildren, Dustin Huffstutler (Keri), Amy Huffstutler, Luke Huffstutler, Michael Winstead (Rachel), Matthew Winstead, John Winstead, Timothy Winstead (Bethany), Caitlin Parker, Caroline Parker, Rylan Parker and Cainnin Parker, her great-grandchildren as well as beloved brothers and sisters-in-law and many other family members.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
