CULLMAN—An 88-year-old man was killed on Tuesday when he ran a stop sign and collided with a truck in Cullman County.
The two-vehicle crash happened at 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 1114 and County Road 1107, approximately six miles west of Cullman. According to authorities, Oather Lee Phillips, of Hanceville, was killed when the 2020 Toyota Tacoma that he was operating ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Kenworth T800.
Police say Oather was not using his seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
