BIRMINGHAM – The Hewitt-Trussville girls golf team has advanced into the sub-state round following a second-place finish at the Class 7A, Section 3 tournament on Monday.
Led by Molly Davidson’s round of 71, the Huskies joined Spain Park atop the leaderboard with 235 strokes. The Jaguars would win a sudden death playoff to claim the tournament championship at the Country Club of Birmingham.
Both Hewitt-Trussville and Spain Park will compete against Huntsville and James Clemens next week in the sub-state tournament, which will begin on Tuesday in Huntsville.
Along with Davidson’s 71, the Huskies had strong showings from Gracie Davidson and Kiersten Riggins, who both fired rounds of 82.
