ATHENS, Ala. — A two-vehicle crash at approximately 10:34 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, claimed the life of an Evansville, Indiana man.
John A. Bender, 55, was fatally injured when the 2006 Chevy Silverado he was driving struck the rear of a 2016 Volvo semi-truck and overturned. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Volvo was not hurt, according to troopers.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near U.S. 72, approximately one mile east of Athens. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
