BIRMINGHAM — Authorities have confirmed a Hayden man has died following a work accident at ACIPCO in Birmingham.
The employee, 57-year-old Mark McAlpine, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:59 a.m. Thursday, minutes after the accident happened.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, McAlpine sustained blunt force injuries at the ACIPCO rail yard (31st Avenue North) when a train he was riding on partially derailed on Thursday morning.
The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.
