BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim found dead in a front yard on Tuesday, October 12.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, at approximately 7:35 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of 8th Avenue West where they discovered 30-year-old Nia Peoples of Birmingham, unresponsive in a front yard suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Peoples dead.
This is Birmingham’s 81st murder investigation of 2021, with 12 justifiable death investigations.
The death is being investigated as a homicide; therefore, all questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death should be made to the Birmingham Police Department.
