BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the Birmingham man shot and killed by his son during a domestic dispute on Wednesday, October 27.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Charles Sylvester Stewart, 60, sustained a gunshot wound injury during a reported domestic assault that occurred inside his private residence. Officers responded to the scene at the 1600 block of 51st Street Ensley in Birmingham’s Central Park neighborhood, and located a male lying in a front room of the house.
The suspect is said to be in his 20s and was located at the scene by responding officers.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
This is Birmingham’s 86th murder investigation of 2021, with 12 justifiable death investigations.
