GREENSBORO — Authorities here report that a 4-year-old boy has died of an apparent accidental discharge of a firearm.
Police responded to a 911 call late Tuesday evening to a house off of Balsa Avenue, according to AL.com, which reported the story first.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the child was “critically wounded” from what appeared to be an accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound. The child was transported to a local hospital.
He was later pronounced dead.
While the shooting appeared to be accidentally self-inflicted, Greensboro Police Chief Michael Hamilton said that the case remains under investigation.
