ETOWAH COUNTY —A grade-school teacher in Etowah County school has been placed on leave after being accused of producing child pornography.
Amy Bedwell Sudberry, a 39-year-old third grad teacher at Carlisle Elementary School in Boaz, was booked into the Etowah County Jail on Monday, November 1, 2021, on five felony charges.
Four of those charges are related to child pornography.
Sudberry and her husband, Joshua Wayne Sudberry, 33, were both arrested after Rainbow City police received a cyber tip, according to a published report in The Gadsden Times.
Jail records show that Sudberry is charged with producing pornography with a minor, dissemination/display of child pornography, production of pornography with minors, possessing any obscene matter with a child under the age of 17 and chemical endangerment of a minor.
Her husband is facing two felony counts: chemical endangerment of a child and possession of drug paraphenalia.
Etowah County Schools Superintendent Alan Cosby told the Times that Sudberry was placed on leave pending sure the outcome of her legal entanglements. The school district is reportedly cooperating with authorities.
