BESSEMER — Janarius Horn may not have much of a future in thievery. Police here say the 18-year-old was arrested earlier this week after a cashier at a local convenience store twice sidetracked his attempts to rob the place.
Bessemer Police Lt. Christian Clemons told AL.com that a customer at the Rainbow Quick Stop on Hall Avenue in Bessemer spotted a man crossing the street putting on a mask and carrying a gun around 7:15 p.m. on November 10. The customer warned the cashier on duty, who locked the door before the gunman could get inside and refused to let him in.
Police say that the suspect banged on the door but left with nothing to show for his efforts.
The unidentified female cashier was on duty again when Horn entered the building less than a week later, around 3:30 p.m.
The cashier then called the police.
Once the authorities arrived, the cashier unlocked the store door and Horn was taken into custody. He reportedly still had the gun and cigars in his possession at the time of his arrest.
