BIRMINGHAM — Jefferson County Judge Tracie Todd was foundguilty of violating the canons of judicial ethics by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary. She has been suspended for 90 days without pay.
The order states Todd violated ethical canons by making inappropriate statements that the judiciary in Alabama is corrupted by politics, disregarding the rulings of appellate courts, inserting issues into her rulings not raised by the parties in her court, abandoning the role of a neutral arbiter to become an advocate for defendants and for her own rulings and opinions, as well as asking an attorney under oath about whether he contributed to her opponent’s political campaign.
Todd had denied the charges, which were filed in a complaint in April. Todd has been suspended since then. She has been reinstated to the bench effective Monday, December 6, 2021. Her pay will be restored after 90 working days.
