JEFFERSON COUNTY — A bystander found an unidentified body on Saturday, January 8, around 2:15 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Shady Grove Road at Porter Road in West Jefferson County in response to a body located on the side of the roadway by a passerby.
“The initial call from the passerby was that the unidentified male victim may have been a pedestrian who had been struck,” Sergeant Joni Money said. “After further investigation, it is not believed that the victim was struck by a vehicle.”
Jefferson County Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.
“The Jefferson County Coroner’s office is working to identify the victim, as well as determine the cause and manner of death,” Money said.
