JACKSON COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a Jackson County woman on Tuesday, January 4, at approximately 11:40 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Charlotte Wehrle German, 81, of Woodville, was fatally injured when her 2013 Chrysler Town & Country van was struck by a 2015 Kia Forte, driven by Lauryn Michelle Klein, 32, of Madison. The crash occurred on U.S. 72 near Jackson County 6, approximately 12 miles east of Woodville.
Both were injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. In addition, a toddler, who was a passenger in the Kia, was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, January 9, German succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
