GADSDEN — Senior pitcher Riley Quick struck out 11 over six innings, giving up only one hit, and Hewitt-Trussville romped over Sardis for a 10-0 victory to get the 2022 season off to a hot start for the Huskies.
In the second game, Baker Green threw eight strikeouts and allowed only two hits over the course of five-and-two-thirds innings against Southside-Gadsden in a 6-2 victory.
Thomas Eayn got the save against Southside, pitching an inning and a third with three strikeouts.
Kurt Kizer had four hits and four RBIs, while Jack Hollis had three hits and three RBIs. Matt Miller also had three hits.
The Huskies are 2-0 on the season and will play their home opener on Tuesday, February 22, against Southside-Gadsden at 4 p.m.
