BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man was killed during an apparent assault on Monday, February 21, at approximately 7:13 p.m.
“At approximately 7:15 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of 33rd Street North on a report of shots fired,” Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Carpenter dead.
“Details are limited in this investigation,” Fitzgerald said. “Currently, there is no one in custody.”
This is Birmingham’s 16th murder investigation of 2022, with one justifiable death investigation.
