BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has released some details on the death of a pedestrian killed Sunday, May 22, while walking along I-65.
The deceased person’s name has not been released, pending notification of next-of-kin. The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. The driver of the vehicle stopped and called 911.
“The decedent was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while walking in the travel lanes of Interstate 65 South near Green Spring Avenue,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated. “The driver of the vehicle that struck the decedent remained at the scene and reported the event to authorities. The cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.”
