BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the two men killed less than an hour apart in Birmingham on Tuesday, May 31.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 29-year-old Maurice Montrell Lewis of Birmingham was apparently walking to his brother’s residence when unknown suspect(s) began shooting at him.
“The decedent ran from an alley and was found in the front yard of a residence,” Deputy Coroner Phillip Russell said.
Lewis was pronounced at the scene in the 1100 Block of Center Street North in Birmingham at 1:07 p.m.

Russell also identified the victim of a second unrelated shooting in the 4200 Block of 41st Avenue North in Birmingham.
“Birmingham Police responded to shots fired,” Russell said. “According to the Birmingham Police, when officers arrived on the scene, the decedent was found apparently suffering from a gunshot wound.”
Tarlumi C. Bonner, 21, of Birmingham, suffered gunshot wounds when a group of men opened gunfire on a residence with multiple juveniles inside, but only Bonner was struck and was found lying unresponsive on the couch inside the residence.
Bonner was pronounced dead at the scene.
There have been no arrests made in connection to either shooting.
