IRONDALE — The Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce (GICC) hosted its monthly luncheon this week.
Mark Colson, President/CEO of the Alabama Trucking Association, was the featured speaker and shared with chamber members on the topic of “Alabama Trucking: Careers in High Gear.”
Mark shared that about 110,000 people in Alabama work in the trucking industry, which compares to about 40,000 in the auto manufacturing industry. The average entry-level age of a truck driver is about 38 years. That means that people don’t start their working careers as truck drivers, but somewhere down the road, they decided to change careers and
begin a career in the industry.
Mark works hard to let everyone know that a career in trucking is a wonderful opportunity for job seekers in all walks of life. He says, “If you see it, it came from a trucker.”
