TRUSSVILLE — Two masked thieves entered Ulta Beauty at Homestead Village in Trussville last week and made off with 65 items totaling more $8,000, according to Lt. Clint Riner.
Riner said Trussville police were contacted by the store manager on Thursday, Feb. 9 to report a theft that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
According to the report, Ulta employees said two Black females entered the store shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday and ignored the employees’ offer to help them.
A short time later, an alarm sounded in the perfume area. Two employees went to investigate and observed the two women removing items and placing them in a bag. One of the employees asked the women to stop and said they responded aggressively, stating they had pepper spray. Then employees then backed away, fearful that the women may use the pepper spray.
One of the female suspects was dressed in paisley pants, a blue scarf and a headwrap. The other wore tie-dye pants, a camo coat, purple shirt, a headwrap. Both suspects wore masks and were in and out of the store in approximately two minutes.
The suspects fled the store in and left in a black Jeep Cherokee. Employees were able to get a picture of the car tag, but it had been reported stolen off of a gray Jeep Cherokee in Birmingham.
“Investigators are following up leads to identify the offenders.,” Riner said.
