TRUSSVILLE – Three Trussville elementary schools had teams competing in the Elementary Science Olympiad at Jacksonville High School on Feb. 25, 2023.
The Paine Elementary Science Olympiad team placed second out of 20 teams. The Cahaba Elementary team came in third place and Magnolia Elementary placed 12th.
Paine Elementary also brought home the following medals:
- 4th Place for Barge Building – Samara Windham and Sofia Durakovic
- 2nd Place For Crash Landing – Hannah Schmohl and Addysen Coons
- 4th Place for Dinosaurs and Disasters – Ross Phillips and Judson Edmonds
- 2nd Place for Going Green – Lillian Phillips and AJ Worrell
- 1st Place for Infographics – Judson Edmonds
- 1st Place for It’s Elemental – Bentley Buckelew
- 4th Place for Pasta Transporter – Lillian Phillips and AJ Worrell
- 2nd Place for Which Way’s North – Logan O’Dell
Cahaba Elementary students brought home these medals:
- 4th Place Calculator Contest – Olivia Chen
- 4th Place Crash Landing – Elie Brown & Mathilda Adams
- 4th Place It’s Elemental – Emma Bramel & Bates Hubbard
- 3rd Place Pasta Transporter – Elsie Johnson
- 3rd Place Food for Thought – Leon Zeng, Moses Davis
- 1st Place Starry, Starry Night- Mathilda Adams & CeCe Taunton
- 1st Place Weather or Not – Aiden St. Clair & Moses Davis
- 1st Place How do You Spell Science – Leon Zeng & Fisher Grigsby
