BIRMINGHAM – Pinson (2-4) dominated Huffman (0-6) 61-0 in a Region 6 matchup.
The Indians picked up their first region win and their second win of the season to snap a four-game losing streak.
At the end of the first quarter, Pinson held a 28-0 lead.
As the two teams headed to the break, the Indians were up 54-0.
The second half was played with four-minute running quarters.
Huffman has yet to score a touchdown through six games. The last team in Alabama to go scoreless in a season was Notasulga in 1965. The road does not get easier for them as they take on the red-hot Cougars of Clay Chalkville on Friday night.
Indian quarterback Dylan Reese was eight of eight passing for 177 yards and five touchdowns in the first half.
Josh Woods carried the ball eleven times for 118 yards with one score.
Rico Freeman hauled in four passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
The Pinson defense scores twice in the first half.
Jamaricus Thomas scores on a 40-yard fumble recovery, and Jaylon Lewis recovers a fumble in the endzone.
Keywone Posey closed out the scoring with a 36-yard touchdown run in the fourth period.
Indians’ Head Coach Gentrell Eatman was optimistic after the game. “The win was great because it put us back in the win column,” he said.
“As you know, we have been struggling on the offensive side of the ball. This gives our young players confidence going down the stretch with all region games left to play.”
“My message to this team is to build on what we did and continue to get better every day and things will work themselves out.”
Eatman and his Pinson Valley Indians, now 2-4, host region foe Center Point, who sits at 6-1, next Friday.
