From Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — The finalists for the 2023 Tribune Readers Choice Awards were announced Monday, Oct. 9 and a new city specific section was introduced for the first time.
Over 68,000 votes were cast by Tribune readers during the nomination phase. The nominees receiving the most votes advanced to the finals.
The new OVERALL READERS CHOICE BY CITY section was added to give readers the opportunity to name the best restaurant, best retailer, best professional services, and best place to work in their specific city. All nine cities in the Tribune coverage area are included. The final four questions in this section are for the same categories regardless of location.
“The new overall readers choice by city section ensures that top businesses in each Tribune city can be recognized by their local customers,” Tribune publisher Scott Buttram said. “Every city has local jewels in terms of businesses and we wanted to make sure they weren’t lost in the shuffle.”
Buttram said the new overall readers choice by city section winners will be determined by open voting and will not have a finals phase. The voting will follow the same schedule as the finals and winners will be announced at the same time.
After readers complete the new overall readers choice by city section, the ‘next’ button at the bottom of the section will take readers to the 2023 Tribune Readers Choice finalists in over 160 categories.
Voting for the Tribune Readers Choice finalists will be open until Nov. 8, 2023. Readers can vote with the ballot below or access the ballot any time by clicking on the Readers Choice tab at the top of the TrussvilleTribune.com home page.
