MOODY — The Moody landfill fire has reignited and a portion of the cap covering the site has collapsed.
The Moody landfill fire began last November and signs of thermal activity were decreasing until this latest development.
According to ABC3340, James Mulkey, City of Moody Fire Inspector, said the Moody Fire Department found several issues with the landfill in early October.
“On October the third we came out and flew a drone over the area and found several cracks and small holes that had smoke coming from them, so we took that information and turned it over to our county EMA office who notified ADEM,” said James Mulkey, City of Moody Fire Inspector.
