PINSON – Pinson Trade Days founder Patti, of Patti’s on Main Street Flea Market and Consignment Shop, has announced that she’s planning to host an “Amateur Talent Show” this spring for local youths. While the exact date is yet to be determined, parents of children who are interested in participating in the talent show are invited to go ahead visit Patti’s on Main Street Flea Market and Consignment Shop during their regular business hours so that they can audition and sign up. Auditions and advanced sign-up are required, and this talent show is for children only, under 18 years of age.
“I think in March or April, depending on the weather,” Patti said, adding that the children are welcome to bring tip jars, buckets or hats so that shoppers at Trade Days can leave them tips. “I know there’s a lot of talented kids out there and they’d probably love the break.”
Talents can include things like singing, dancing, playing an instrument, impersonating a famous musician or celebrity, and more.
There will be a panel of judges and prizes awarded for first, second and third place, as well.
Additionally, Patti wants to let the public know that Pinson Trade Days will continue to take place on Pinson Main Street the first Saturday of each month throughout the year, weather allowing. The hours for Trade Days is 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“February 3 is going to be the next Trade Days,” she said, “but if the weather is like (this week’s freeze), obviously we’re going to cancel that Trade Days.”
Patti’s main purpose since she founded Trade Days in 2021 has been to help people, starting with helping the small business owners of Pinson’s historic district, and spreading out to help the people of the community supplement their incomes by offering free booth space to vendors who want to come out and sell their wares. Booths at previous Trade Days have ranged from fresh fruits and vegetables to jewelry, body care products, fishing supplies, toys, collectables and much, much more.
In addition to shopping the booth event, the public is also invited to visit the charming small businesses dotting Main Street, including Price’s restaurant, which offers a selection of hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream and more in a ‘50’s diner setting; Barking Bee Coffee; Celina’s Boutique; Down on Main Street Hair and Nails; Pinson Valley Arts Council; Comfort Grooming and Daycare LLC; Todd’s Computer Repair; Styles N’ Smiles Family Hair Salon; Love Life Naturals; Neixy Jewelry; Patti’s on Main Street Flea Market/Consignment Shop and more.
“I try to help everybody I can,” Patti said. “With groceries and gasoline and heat and power bills, everything is just so much money. People can come and claim their free space and make a few extra bucks to compensate their income.”
There’s still time to claim a free booth space at the Feb. 3, 2024, Pinson Trade Days. To do so, or to let your child audition for the Amateur Spring Talent Show, visit Patti’s on Main Street Flea Market/Consignment Shop, located at 4281 Main Street, Pinson.
