Hewitt-Trussville
Boys: The 18-10 (3-3) Huskies defeated Hueytown and lost to Clay-Chalkville.
Hewitt squares off against Oak Mountain in the area tournament this afternoon at 5:30.
Girls: The fifth-ranked Lady Huskies, 23-5 (6-0), defeated Hueytown last week and defeated Spain Park in the area tournament last night.
The Huskies will face Chelsea in the area champiknship game Wednesday at 6:00.
“We are now into the most exciting part of the season with all teams starting with a record of 0-0, and all rankings will disappear from the column,” said head coach Tonya Hunter.
“We need to continue to get better every moment together.”
“We will continue to take one game at a time and focus on competing at a high level.”
Clay-Chalkville
Boys: The 6A fourth-ranked Cougars, 21-8 (4-0), lost to Mountain Brook and defeated Hewitt-Trussville last week.
The Cougars take on ninth-ranked Pinson in the area championship on Wednesday night at 7:00.
“At this point, I think my guys understand the importance of preparation & execution, which is very important at this point,” said head coach Chris Richardson.
“We have played one of the toughest regular season schedules in the state, and I believe that will be beneficial down the stretch.”
Girls: The 2nd ranked Lady Cougars are 24-2 (6-0).
Clay faces sixth-ranked Mortimer Jordan Wednesday afternoon at 5:00.
“We finished the season 24-2 against a really good schedule,” said head coach Kevin Conner. “
“I’m so happy that this senior class is having this successful of a season in their last year at Clay Chalkville,” he said.
“We have high goals going into the playoffs but also we have a tough bracket in front of us.”
“We look forward to the challenge and I can’t wait to see my girls compete against the best teams in the state.”
Shades Valley
Boys: The 16-11 (3-3) Mounties defeated Center Point last week. The Mounties defeated Pell City in the area tournament last night.
Valley takes on second-ranked Mountain Brook in the area championship game tomorrow evening at 6:00.
Girls: The Lady Mounties stand at 14-12 (6-0) on the season after defeating Center Point last week and Woodlawn Saturday.

“At the start of the new year, we discussed Prov 29:18 as it pertains to having a vision,” said head coach Gary Ferguson.
“We asked our team the different ways to spell the word see.”
“We told them they must see themselves going undefeated this year.”
“They were a little thrown off and had puzzled looks on their face until we reminded them that 2023 is over and it’s a new year,” he said.
“It’s now 2024, and we are now 8-0 in this new year.”
“We know that adversity will hit and that we must weather the storms that will come our way.”
“As coaches, we’re excited. This is the time of the season when you can throw the records out of the window.”
“It’s now about who wants it more than their opponent,” Ferguson said.
Center Point
Boys: The Eagles remain winless at 0-27 after falling to Gardendale Monday night.
Girls: The Lady Eagles are 3-24 after losing to Gardendale Monday night.
