BIRMINGHAM – The Hewitt-Trussville Girls team finished second in 7A at the AHSAA Indoor Championship at the Birmingham Crossplex.
The Hewitt Boys finished 4th.
Tori Mack won the 7A State Championship in the 60m Hurdles.
Michael Igbonoghene won the 7A State Championship in the Boys Long Jump.
Jayda Hammonds finished second in the Girls Long Jump.
Avery Caboon finished third in the Girls 800m.
Haven White finished 3rd in the Girls Pole Vault.
Madisyn Hawkins finished third in the Girls Shot Put.
Michael Igbonoghene finished third in the Boys Triple Jump.
Shaw Helfrich finished third in the Boys Pole Vault.
“I am very happy and proud of our girls,” said Husky head coach Jamey Curlee. “Proving that hard work and teamwork has a great payoff.”
“Tori Mack won state in 60m hurdles, and several girls were in multiple events scoring double-digit points.”
“That’s what makes a huge gain at state.”
“7th grader Hadley Turner finished six in the 3200, that is amazing!”
“All of the girls pitching in a little adds up and gets trophies,” he said.
“I am also very proud of the guys.”
“Not many of our sports finish in the top four, and the guys did it with several missing events due to injuries.”
“They did great also,” Curlee said.
Clay-Chalkville:
Roderick Alexander won the 6A 400 Meter Dash.
Keri Edwards finished third in the Triple Jump.
Center Point:
Aleria Ringstaff finished third in the 6A 60 Meter Dash.
Moody:
Talan Smith won the 4-5A ambulatory 60 Meter and 400 Meter Dash.
The 4X200 Meter Relay team finished in second place.
