BIRMINGHAM — Police in Birmingham are investigating separate shootings on Saturday that left two people dead, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
The first shooting was reported at about 2:15 p.m. on Saturday when the Shot Spotter system alerted officers to shots fired in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue West in the Bush Hills community.
When officers arrived, they found a young adult male suffering from a gunshot lying unresponsive in the roadway. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
“We believe multiple shots were fired in and around the 1200 and 1400 block of 4th Avenue West and the victim was then struck by gunfire,” Fitzgerald said. “Currently, we believe the victim was targeted in the shooting.”
Keenetheen Royall, 24, of Birmingham was identified as the shooting victim.
At 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, Fitzgerald said officers were summoned to the South Eastlake area on a shots fired call in the 8300 block of Vassar Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a male victim lying unresponsive in the road suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
