BIRMINGHAM — The deadly weekend in the Magic City continues, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
Following two separate shootings in which two males were killed on Saturday, police are now responding to a double homicide on Sunday.
According to police, officers are on the scene a double homicide in the 3400 block of Boise Avenue, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Officers were alerted by Shot Spotter to shots fired in the area at about 6 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived, they located two male victims lying unresponsive in the roadway. The victims were pronounced dead by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
Kartece Perkins and Leon Wyatt Jr, both 24 and both from Birmingham, were identified as the victims in the homicide.
“We believe that multiple shots were fired on Boise Avenue and the victims were struck by gunfire in a targeted shooting,” Fitzgerald said. “There is no one in Custody.”
